Hello! Today I took a look at 7.41f and immediately noticed Mirana: she may not have the flashiest official changes, but the adjustments are hard to ignore. For me, Mirana has always been a hero at the intersection of initiative and reaction: she can start a fight with an arrow, help her team slip away into the fog, and still be useful in a wide range of roles.
Role and abilities
Mirana is a ranged agility hero with a difficulty rating of 2 out of 3. In terms of roles, she looks fairly flexible: she has potential as a Carry, Support, Nuker, Disabler, and Escape hero, but in practice her value usually comes down to how well she creates moments for her team.
- Starstorm — deals damage to nearby enemies and helps Mirana get into fights faster.
- Sacred Arrow — her main initiation tool: it stuns the target, and with Aghanim’s Scepter it also interacts with Starstorm.
- Leap — mobility and tempo, letting Mirana save herself, chase, and keep the fight moving.
- Celestial Quiver — an innate ability that empowers the next attack with bonus magical damage if it has charges. It is an important part of her new right-click damage and short trades.
- Moonlight Shadow — team-wide invisibility and movement speed, plus extra damage for the ability owner. In my opinion, this is the button that most often makes Mirana useful even when her lane does not go perfectly.
From the description, she really does play like a lunar hunter: jump in, land the arrow, give your team a window, and hide them from the counterplay. I think Mirana is exactly the kind of hero whose value depends heavily on timing and map reading.
Changes in recent patches
If we go from newest to oldest, 7.41f gave Mirana two direct nerfs, and both hit her consistency.
- 7.41f: Celestial Quiver base charge restore time increased from 6 to 7 seconds.
- 7.41f: Sacred Arrow maximum stun duration reduced from 2.6/3.4/4.2/5 to 2.3/3.2/4.1/5 seconds.
Before that, in 7.41d, the hero got a softer adjustment toward damage and scaling.
- 7.41d: maximum charges on Celestial Quiver changed from 2 + 1 every 7 levels to 2 + 1 every 6 levels.
- 7.41d: second hit damage on Starstorm increased from 70% to 80%.
In 7.41c, Mirana was noticeably buffed through Sacred Arrow and talents.
- 7.41c: total damage of Sacred Arrow increased from 60/150/240/330 to 60/160/260/360.
- 7.41c: level 15 talent bonus attack speed from Leap increased from 90 to 100.
- 7.41c: level 20 talent bonus damage from Celestial Quiver increased from 40 to 50.
Earlier still, in 7.41a, Celestial Quiver had already been changed toward a more noticeable scaling curve.
- 7.41a: bonus damage on Celestial Quiver changed from 3 per level to 5 + 3 per level.
- 7.41a: level 20 talent bonus damage from Celestial Quiver increased from 35 to 40.
And in patch 7.41 itself, the hero got her biggest overhaul.
- 7.41: Selemene’s Faithful removed from the game.
- 7.41: new innate ability Celestial Quiver added.
- 7.41: Celestial Quiver consumes a charge to add 3 magical damage per hero level to the next attack; max charges — 2 + 1 every 7 levels; charge restore time — 6 seconds.
- 7.41: Celestial Quiver is upgraded with Aghanim’s Shard.
- 7.41: while the owner is affected by Leap, Celestial Quiver gains 3 additional charges.
- 7.41: charges from each use of Leap stack, and the total can exceed the maximum.
- 7.41: Leap no longer grants a chance to critically strike with Aghanim’s Shard.
- 7.41: level 20 talent “+35 base damage” replaced with “+35 damage to Celestial Quiver”.
In essence, since 7.41 Mirana has become less about random bursts from the old kit and more about built-in, more systematic damage. I like this change: the hero is clearer in terms of build and goals, although now her strengths are better seen not alone, but through timing and smart charge usage.
Statistics
According to OpenDota, over the last 7 days Mirana was played in 510,227 public matches, and her win rate was 51.6%. That is 23rd out of 127 heroes by win rate and 26th by total games played.
- Herald — 52.3%
- Guardian — 52.2%
- Crusader — 51.7%
- Archon — 52.0%
- Legend — 51.9%
- Ancient — 51.4%
- Divine — 50.7%
In professional matches, according to OpenDota, the picture is noticeably more modest: 16 picks, 6 wins, and 14 bans, which comes out to a 37.5% win rate. In my opinion, this is exactly the kind of hero that looks stronger in pubs than in competitive play: so much of Mirana depends on precision, tempo, and coordination with the team.
Items and matchups
In pro matches, Mirana’s item pool is pretty telling: she can start as a support and then move into a more active, mobile build.
- Starting items: Iron Branch, Observer and Sentry Wards, Tango, Blood Grenade, Faerie Fire, Sentry Ward.
- Early game: Boots of Speed, Urn of Shadows, Chainmail, Arcane Boots, Essence Distiller, Void Stone.
- Mid game: Staff of Wizardry, Essence Distiller, Eul’s Scepter of Divinity, Arcane Boots, Point Booster, Ogre Axe.
- Late game: Aghanim’s Scepter, Eul’s Scepter of Divinity, Blink Dagger, Force Staff, Solar Crest, Mystic Staff.
In pro matchups, Mirana looks best against Ursa, Grimstroke, and Storm Spirit. She performs worst against Treant Protector, Venomancer, and Legion Commander. I would say that fits her style well: she is more comfortable where she can play for tempo and catch targets, rather than running into heroes that make it hard for her to freely play the map.
Conclusion
After 7.41f, Mirana looks a little less sharp than before: both the Sacred Arrow window and the rhythm of Celestial Quiver charges were trimmed. But the hero herself is still very flexible, and according to OpenDota she remains perfectly respectable in pubs. I think Mirana is not a hero you need to snap up in every draft right now, but she is definitely not out of the picture yet: if a team can make use of her map presence, her arrow, and Moonlight Shadow, she can still do a lot.

that Sacred Arrow nerf is tiny on paper, but it hits the part that saves people at the edge. feels like one of those changes you only notice when the escape barely works anymore.
i dont think it’s tiny at all, that last bit of stun is exactly what makes her annoying in fights. less lockdown means less time for the team to follow up, so the whole pick feels softer even if the numbers look small.
+ it is the kind of nerf that looks harmless until you lose one chase and the enemy gets out with 20 hp. then suddenly the whole fight turns. not dramatic, just enough to be felt every game.
are you talking about the max stun drop or the arrow timing itself? because to me the bigger deal is still the setup window, not the last bit of stun. if you land clean arrows, she keeps doing Mirana stuff. if you miss, the patch number doesnt matter much.
Стрелу опять подкрутили, эх)
build still same?
I had a lane where Mirana felt insane pre-nerf, just pressing Leap and the extra charges let me keep trading forever. After the 7.41f change it already feels a bit less silly, like you actually have to think before throwing arrows instead of fishing nonstop. Still playable, but the hero lost some of that free tempo vibe.
